Improving your mobility with Sophie

What is it?

Mobility training is designed to increase muscle fibre length, strength and range of movement through the joints. This all contributes to improved stability and balance throughout the body. It is essential for flexibility and for helping to keep the body free from aches and pains.

Mobility training can be very beneficial for those who participate in regular strength training. Increased range of movement can significantly improve posture and form as well as decreasing injury risk and helping to prevent imbalance in the muscles which all leads to more effective and efficient strength training.

Mobility and stretching are also beneficial for aiding in recovery from training. By maintaining or increasing the length of muscles and range of movement in the joints, recovery between sessions can be improved and muscle soreness decreased.

Introduction and What it means it you

I have been a qualified personal trainer and coach for over five years and have recently qualified as a stretchologist (yes this is a real thing!).

I have also trained fairly consistently for the last ten years and can honestly say that since incorporating mobility, yoga and more effective stretching into my routine, I have been stronger, more flexible and better able to complete movements and sessions pain and discomfort free.

I am also a big believer in the benefits of mobility and stretching for the mind. Winding down after a tough session or at the end of the day with a relaxing mobility session can not only benefit your body but can also help you feel calmer, less stressed and more able to focus as well as sleep better and be better prepared for the next day!

Approach

Our mobility sessions will incorporate a combination of dynamic movements, long static holds, pairs assisted stretching and the use of equipment such as resistance bands and bolsters.
